About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Eylul Basak Cetinkanat and I am a Master of Architecture student in the University of Texas at Arlington. I graduated from UTA School of Architecture and received my Bachelor of Science in Architecture in May 2023, with a Magna Cum Laude. I am from Turkiye and I came a long way from my hometown to pursue an academic career in Architecture in the U.S. Throughout my journey, I have traveled to South Africa, Uganda, New York, North Carolina, and Texas. This migration from country to country exposed me to the experiences of learning a totally new language (English), a variety of cultures, societies, and environmental and societal problems that needs resolving. My biggest objective to study Architecture is to solve these variety of problems across the world, to make a positive and lasting trace on societies and countries. I am passionate about everything I get my hands on to design, especially the hand drawings/sketches. My goal is to design sustainable buildings that have a positive lasting impact on people's memories and walkable communities.

I have recently been very excited as the first built project that I actively took part in its design and construction during my Design Build studio, The Joppy Momma's Pavilion, won an AIA Dallas Student Design Award. I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant/Architecture Intern in the Arlington Urban Design Center and am working on multiple projects that involve redesigning public libraries, redevelopment of sites, redesigning facades, site planning for single family house complex projects and interior renders of the City Hall for an upcoming project.
